2010 Best R&B Performer Whammy Award
Watching vocalists Lisa McDavid and Paul “Shady” Grady deliver high-energy vocals and dynamic stage presence during their opening set of the ceremony, it was clear Urban Legend are a band whose aim is engaging their fanbase. After all, it was their fans whose votes placed them first amongst the nominees: Chris Worth, Ty Causey and Todd Harrold.
“We are in some great company,” said McDavid, “and honored to win this category for a second straight year.”
“We want to thank our fans who took the time to vote,” added bassist Mark Gevaart. Accompanied by Mike Rogers on keyboard and Matt Schory on guitar, the band keeps the Fort Wayne music scene alive with classy rhythm and blues riffs, harmonies and grooves.
We can expect much more to come in 2011, according to Schory, who has no doubt that they will “continue to be what people are looking for in live entertainment.”
Having heard this band firsthand, there is certainly no question that these smooth six have lived up to their namesake to become Fort Wayne’s own Urban Legend. (Written by Fernando Tarango Copyright 2011 Ad Media Inc)
